3 Tips to Make You Smile More
Times are tough and that's just covid.
In life one of the biggest lessons you learn is that it is actually like a rollercoaster and that you can expect ups and downs sometimes bigger than others. I think one of the single biggest lessons that can make a difference to your life is to realise that when you are in dark days that things will eventually get better. When things are good we don't think of this, we don't need to. When things are dark we feel like it's never going to end and that light at the end of the tunnel is especially important to remember.
One thing we can do to help us see that light is to smile more. When we can "look on the bright side" more, it helps us to get through hard times more easily. So here's 3 tips for you to smile more.
- Practice Smiling - have you ever looked at yourself in the mirror and given yourself a big smile? Try it! When you practice smiling you get used to the feeling and it becomes a more natural state of being.
- Surround Yourself with Positive People - if you are living your life surrounded by stressed, depressed or grumpy people it can be very easy to get used to that way of being. See if you can spend a little bit more time with people who are positive, smiling and happy. You might not find them in your family or workplace but I want you to think about where you might find those people. An exercise class, a club, online?
- Memories - most of us can think of something in our past that makes us smile. There are times that we felt happy or we laughed hard. They pop up in our memories from time to time and it's a good idea to write them down when they do. This way you'll have something to reach for when you are feeling down that can cheer you up.
- Bonus Tip - Essential Oils can be powerful mood changers. Essential oils that are high in limonene are particularly good at lifting spirits so they make a great addition to a room spray or diffuser blend. Lemon, Wild Orange, Bergamot, Grapefruit or Lime are always in my diffuser blends for that uplifting effect.
